Learning Support

 

As part of our Learning Support Program, DaySpring Academy uses screening and assessment tools to identify each child's strengths and areas of need. Students who demonstrate significant academic, speech and language, behavioral, or motor development concerns may require further evaluation by our Learning Support Team.

 

Students experiencing developmental delays in areas such as speech and language, behavior, social skills, fine motor skills, or gross motor skills may be required to obtain an evaluation from a Developmental Pediatrician, School Psychologist, or the Ministry of Education Special Services Department. Parents are required to provide copies of all relevant reports, evaluations, and recommendations to the school and to keep the school informed of any updated assessments.

 

When significant behavioral concerns are identified, including disruptive, repetitive, aggressive, or self-injurious behaviors, parents will be required to seek a professional evaluation within a reasonable timeframe. Timely evaluations help ensure that appropriate supports can be put in place to meet the child's needs and maintain a safe and productive learning environment.

 

Students identified as having developmental delays or special educational needs are expected to participate in recommended therapy services through independent providers. DaySpring Academy does not provide therapy services directly; however, our teachers and Learning support staff collaborate with parents and outside professionals and receive ongoing training to support students within the classroom setting.
